2007 – Present Owner and Instructor: The Wellspring Review and Wellspring Therapy Associates, PLLC, San Antonio, Texas
Developed test taking strategies, materials, and workshops to help prepare counseling students for the National Counselor Exam. Developed course and curricula for Texas State Board of Examiners of Licensed Professional Counselor's Approved Supervisor Training Course. Teach multiple eight-hour workshops monthly. Manage business accounts and marketing for the company. Created and manage a web site, including a secured shopping site, for professional information and products.
2007 – 2009 Co-Founder and Site Supervisor: The Fermin Sarabia Community Family Life Center, San Antonio, Texas
Developed a unique new community counseling program at the Guadalupe Community Center along with fellow first year doctoral students enrolled in the Counselor Education and Supervision Program at UTSA, Efraim Padilla, Margaret Costantino, Maritza Lebron-Striker, and Gabriel Vallejo. Worked collaboratively with Fermin Sarabia, MD, and Ms. Elvia Gonzalez, Director of GCC, to provide free counseling services to clients in the inner city neighborhoods who did not have access to mental health services. Conducted limited outreach to the community resulting in immediate requests from individuals desiring mental health counseling. Officially partnered with Catholic Charities and The University of Texas at San Antonio’s Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology, and Adult & Higher Education in the summer of 2007. During 2007, counseling and referral services were provided to 83 individuals and families. Designed and constructed a separate counseling wing along with a local area Eagle Scout project, which opened to the community in January 2008.

2000 – Present Co-Founder and Director: The Postpartum Depression Center of San Antonio and Seasons of Life Counseling & Training Center (DBA)
Designed the first outpatient mental health program in South Texas especially for women with pregnancy and postpartum-related issues and their families. Lobbied Texas congress to provide mandatory postpartum disorders education and specialized counseling referrals to all pregnant and new mothers (effort resulted in passage of Texas House Bill 341 September 2003). Provide psychoeducational public speaking engagements to businesses, other professionals, and community groups. Developed a curriculum to educate other professionals and lay persons about postpartum mood disorders. Designed and produced advertising literature and three web sites for the center. Marketed practice and services to area physician specialists to initiate a collaborative continuity of care program. Directed all business activities of the Center. Provide individual, group, and family counseling to patients and their families.
2002 – Present Private Practice Counselor: Seasons of Life Counseling Center (DBA)
Developed a business plan and marketing strategy for a new counseling center. Work with specialized clientele in office and over the telephone (crisis care) providing counseling and referrals, especially to minorities and women. Provide community psychoeducation and outreach. Manage four full-time therapists and four LPC-Interns.
2001 – 2004 Brighter Pathway International, PLLC – Independent Contractor: Counselor at PCI Head Start Centers, San Antonio, Texas
Provided individual, family, and group counseling to low socioeconomic status children ages three to six years and their families in a preschool setting. Conducted assessments to diagnosis emotional and behavioral disorders. Conducted staff and center administration training. Provided crisis intervention strategies and training.
2001 – 2002 Laurel Ridge Hospital – Therapist (Internship), San Antonio, Texas
Conducted psychosocial assessments and developed treatment plans for acute care patients at an inpatient setting. Provided individual, family, and group therapy.
1998 – 2002 Therapy Associates – Curriculum Director, San Antonio, Texas
Devised methodologies for depression prevention and intervention. Taught psychoeducational seminars on range of life skill topics. Established Community Outreach Program to educate local physician practices about mental illness and specifically, Postpartum Depression. Counseled individuals and groups. V. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
2000 – Present How to Start Your Own Private Practice
Created and developed a six-hour course for licensed mental health professionals interested in private practice. The course was submitted to the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors and approved as a six hour continuing education course, including three hours in counseling ethics. The course is taught quarterly with 20-person sections.
2005 – Present Texas Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor Training Course
Created a 40-hour Texas LPC Supervisor training course. The course was submitted to the Texas State Board of Examiners of Professional Counselors and approved as an official training course, including twelve hours in counseling ethics. The course is taught in Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio three times a year to ten-person sections.
